Vastu Remedies Without Demolition

Vastu remedies should be simple, visible and honest. The ones we use are changes you can see and undo: where furniture sits, which room is used for what, colour, light, clearing clutter and balancing the five elements in each zone. This page explains what works, what we do not use or sell, and how to judge any remedy you are offered.

We wrote it because many people come to us after being told to buy something, or frightened into breaking a wall. Neither is necessary in most homes, offices or shops. Layout can make a space calmer, easier to use and better lit. It cannot promise wealth, marriage, health or luck, and no honest remedy claims to.

What actually works

Every remedy we suggest falls into one of six groups. Each one changes something real about how a room is used or how it feels.

• Placement: moving a bed, desk, cash drawer, stove position or heavy cupboard into a more suitable zone
• Room use: swapping which room is the study, the store or the guest room, at no cost
• Colour: using lighter tones in the north and east, warmer or earthier tones in the south and west
• Light: opening up a dark northeast, adding warm light to a gloomy corner, removing glare
• Decluttering: clearing junk from the northeast and the centre of the home, which most people find helps immediately
• Element balancing: reducing fire near water, keeping heavy earth elements away from open zones, using plants, metal or water features thoughtfully

Traditional guidance and what we measure

Traditional guidance: classical texts in the Vishvakarma tradition, including the Aparajitaprccha, describe each direction with a quality and an element: water and openness to the northeast, fire to the southeast, weight and stability to the southwest, air and movement to the northwest. Many Vastu remedies follow directly from that framework.

What we measure: before suggesting anything, we take compass readings on site, correct them for magnetic declination using a reference such as the NOAA magnetic declination calculator, and map the plan into 16 zones of about 22.5 degrees each, as explained in 16 Vastu zones explained. A remedy only makes sense once you know which zone a room really sits in. Guessing from the road direction is where many wrong remedies start.

What we do not use or sell

We are clear about this because it is where most trust is lost in Vastu.

• No pyramids, of any metal or size
• No yantras or energised plates sold to clients
• No crystals, gemstones or stone arrangements
• No helix coils, copper strips or so-called energy devices
• No fear-based remedies: no rituals sold to remove a dosha, no warnings that a family will suffer if you do not buy something

We do not sell any product and we take no commission from builders, suppliers or shops. If you already own decorative items you love, keep them. They are simply not what we rely on, and we will not tell you they fix a layout.

How to judge any remedy you are offered

Whether the advice comes from us or anyone else, a few plain questions help.

• Can you see what it changes? Moving a bed is visible. A sticker on a wall changes nothing about how the room works.
• Does it cost money, and who benefits? Be careful when the person advising also sells the product.
• Is it based on a measured direction or a guess?
• Is it framed with fear? Honest Vastu remedies explain, they do not threaten.
• Can you undo it? Good remedies are reversible.
• Does it respect safety, building rules and the needs of people living there?

If a remedy fails most of these questions, you can safely say no.

Vastu remedies room by room

Entrance: keep it clean, well lit and free of shoes piled in the doorway. Our guide to the main door and entrance covers more.

Kitchen: where the stove cannot move, the cook direction often can. Separate water and fire with a counter or space. See Vastu for kitchen.

Work desk and cash counter: facing north or east where practical, with a solid wall behind.

Toilets in sensitive zones: they cannot be moved without construction, so we work with keeping them dry, clean, closed and well ventilated, with suitable colour.

Remedies for entrances and doors

Entrances get more attention than any other part of Vastu, and also attract the most products. In practice, the useful Vastu remedies for an entrance are lighting, a clear threshold, a door that opens fully without catching, a clean nameplate and removing clutter from the passage. Where the entrance is in a less preferred zone, we strengthen the flow inside the home rather than trying to change the door itself.

Remedies for offices, shops and commercial spaces

In commercial spaces, the most effective changes are usually about who sits where. The owner or manager cabin, the accounts desk, the cash counter, stock storage and the reception desk each have preferred zones. When construction really is the only answer

We say this plainly: a few problems cannot be solved by placement. A septic tank or underground sump in a very sensitive zone, a staircase in the centre of a small house, or a severe plot cut may only change with building work. When that is the case, we tell you, explain what the change would involve, and leave the decision to you. We never pretend an object fixes a structural issue.

How we deliver remedies

After a site visit or an online consultation, you receive a written report within 48 hours. It shows the 16-zone map, keeps traditional guidance apart from what we measured, and lists Vastu remedies in order of ease: free changes first, low-cost changes next, construction only where it is truly needed. Small changes in a rented home or apartment

Tenants often assume nothing can be done because they cannot alter the building. In fact, a rented flat is where placement and room use matter most. You choose which bedroom is yours, which room becomes the study, where the dining table goes and how the kitchen is arranged. Those choices are free and fully reversible when you move.

A typical apartment we see in Bangalore has a compact kitchen, two or three bedrooms of similar size and a balcony that has become a store. Clearing that balcony, moving the main bed to the room that measures in the southwest, and setting the work desk to face north or east can change how the home feels within a weekend. What to expect after making changes

People sometimes ask how long a correction takes to work. We prefer to be straightforward. Placement, light and decluttering change the room immediately: it is brighter, easier to move through, or calmer to sit in. Whether that helps your sleep, focus or mood is something you notice yourself over the following weeks.

We do not attach timelines, promises or outcomes to any change. If a correction feels wrong for your family once you live with it, change it back. Good advice should fit the way you live, not the other way round.

Questions to ask before you hire anyone

• Will you measure the directions on site, or work only from the road direction?
• Do you separate classical guidance from what you actually measured?
• Do you sell any product, or take commission from anyone?
• Will I get a written report, and when?
• Are your fees published before I book?

Remedies for a property you are about to buy

If you have not yet bought, the best correction is choosing well. A short pre-purchase review of the plan or plot, at ₹5,000, shows which zones hold the kitchen, toilets, staircase and main bedroom before you commit.
