Online vs Onsite Vastu Consultation: Which Is Right for You?

Online and onsite Vastu consultations use the same 16-zone analysis. Here is what each includes, what online cannot do, and how to choose between them.

Choosing between an online vs onsite Vastu consultation comes down to one practical question: how will the information about your property reach us? The analysis itself is the same in both. We map your layout onto 16 directional zones using the VIDS method, apply the same classical principles and write the same kind of report.

What differs is how we gather the data, how precise the readings can be, and whether a geopathic stress reading is possible. This guide sets out each Vastu format honestly, including what an online assessment cannot do, so you can pick the one that suits your property, your location and your timing.

Online vs onsite Vastu consultation at a glance

Here is the short version before we go into detail:

  • Same framework: both use the 16-zone VIDS map drawn from true north
  • Same report: zone map, observations and ranked recommendations, delivered within 48 hours
  • Onsite adds: our own compass readings at several points, a full walk-through and a Lecher Antenna reading for geopathic stress
  • Online relies on: your floor plan, your photographs and a compass reading you take at the main door
  • Onsite visits cover Bangalore; properties elsewhere in India or abroad use the online format

Neither is a lesser Vastu service. They are two ways of collecting the same inputs, with one clear difference in instrumentation.

What happens in an onsite Vastu visit

For a typical Bangalore apartment or house, the visit takes about 2 to 4 hours. We arrive with the floor plan if you have one, or sketch it on site if you do not.

  • We take compass readings at several points, away from steel, wiring and appliances that distort the needle
  • We correct magnetic north to true north using the local declination
  • We find and mark the centre of the home (the Brahmasthan)
  • We walk every room and note how it is really used, where storage sits and where water and fire points are
  • Where the site allows, we take Lecher Antenna readings to look for geopathic stress, especially around beds and work desks

Being in the space also lets us notice things a plan never shows: a dark passage, a cluttered corner, a beam over a bed, a sump placed where nobody remembered it.

What happens in an online Vastu consultation

The online consultation starts with what you send us: a floor plan with rooms labelled, photographs of each room and the entrance, and the compass direction of the main door taken while standing at the threshold facing out.

From there the process mirrors a visit. We align the plan to north, mark the centre, draw the 16 zones and review each room. We follow up with a video or phone call to clarify anything the photographs do not show, then write the report.

Our guide on how to prepare for a Vastu consultation lists exactly what to send, and a rough hand-drawn plan is usually enough to start.

Accuracy: where each format is strongest

Traditional guidance: the classical texts, including the Aparajitaprccha and the wider Vishvakarma tradition, describe zones by direction from the centre. Getting the direction right is therefore the foundation of any Vastu reading.

What we measure: onsite, we take multiple readings and discard outliers. Online, we depend on one reading taken by you, usually on a phone. Phone compasses can be off by several degrees indoors, so we ask you to step away from metal doors and appliances, and we cross-check against road direction, the building plan and satellite imagery where possible.

Both formats also correct for magnetic declination, which is the angle between magnetic north and true north. You can check it for any location with the NOAA magnetic declination calculator. In Bangalore it is small, but in other cities and countries it can shift a door from one zone to the next.

The one thing online cannot do

A Lecher Antenna reading for geopathic stress needs someone physically present on the floor. There is no way to take it from photographs. If a family member has persistent trouble sleeping in one particular bed, or one desk in an office seems to wear people down, an onsite visit is the better choice because it lets us check that specific spot.

For most other questions, such as room placement, entrance zone, kitchen and toilet positions, or a purchase decision, the directional Vastu analysis online is just as thorough.

When onsite is the better choice

  • Your property is in Bangalore and you can host a visit
  • You want geopathic stress checked around beds or work areas
  • The building is large, irregular or has several levels
  • There is no reliable floor plan and the layout is hard to sketch
  • A commercial or industrial site where machinery, heat and movement need to be seen in person

For industrial sites in particular, see industrial Vastu; scale and process flow are much easier to judge on the ground.

When online is the better choice

  • Your property is outside Bangalore, elsewhere in India or abroad
  • You are an NRI managing a family home from another country
  • You are checking a flat or plot before purchase and cannot access it yet
  • You want a quick, affordable first view before deciding on anything bigger
  • The layout is simple and you can send a clear plan and photographs

Pre-purchase checks are almost always done online, because buyers rarely have full access to a property before it is theirs. A builder plan is enough for a meaningful Vastu review. See our apartment buying checklist for what to look at first.

What you receive in both formats

The deliverable is the same. Within 48 hours of the assessment you receive a written report with your zone map, room-by-room observations and recommendations ranked by priority. Traditional guidance and our own measurements are kept clearly separate, so you can see why each suggestion is made.

You can look at the structure on our sample Vastu report page. Onsite reports also include the geopathic stress readings where they were taken.

Fees for each format

Our fees are fixed and published, so the choice is not hidden behind a quote:

  • Online consultation, anywhere: ₹5,000
  • Bangalore apartment or row house, onsite: ₹15,000
  • Bangalore villa or independent house, onsite: ₹25,000
  • Commercial or industrial: from ₹51,000
  • Pre-purchase plot report: ₹5,000

The difference reflects time on site and travel within the city, not a difference in the quality of the Vastu analysis. Full details are on the consultation fees page. We sell no products and take no commission from builders.

Corrections are the same either way

Whichever format you choose, our corrections follow the same zero-demolition approach: move furniture, swap room use, shift heavy storage, adjust colour and lighting, clear the centre. If something truly needs construction, the report says so plainly.

Because the corrections are practical, you can usually act on an online report yourself and send photographs afterwards if you want us to confirm a change. Our zero-demolition corrections article shows typical examples.

Can you start online and move to onsite later?

Yes, and for some Bangalore families this makes sense. An online review gives you a first zone map and answers the main placement questions. If the report flags something that needs a closer look, such as a bedroom where geopathic stress may be a factor, an onsite visit can follow.

Equally, many people find the online report covers everything they needed. There is no pressure to upgrade.

Choosing the right Vastu format

If you are in Bangalore and want the most complete picture, including instrument readings, choose onsite. If you are elsewhere, buying off-plan, or want a focused first opinion, choose online. In both cases you work directly with Raghavendra Hebbur, who has more than ten years of Vastu practice and studies the classical texts himself.

If you are still unsure, read what a Vastu consultation involves or our methodology page.

Questions to ask yourself before deciding

Three quick questions usually settle it. First, can you be at the property while we visit, or arrange for someone to let us in? If not, online is the practical route. Second, is there a specific spot, such as one bed or one desk, where something feels wrong? If yes, an onsite reading helps. Third, is this a decision you have to make quickly, such as a booking amount due on a flat? Online is faster to arrange, and the report still arrives within 48 hours.

Answer those honestly and the right format for your Vastu review is usually obvious.

Next step

The online vs onsite Vastu consultation choice is rarely difficult once you know what each one includes. For remote properties, the online consultation page has the details; for a Bangalore home or office, you can book a consultation and tell us which format you prefer.

What an online Vastu assessment covers

An online assessment uses traditional Vastu analysis only. We draw the 16-zone map from the centre of your plan, using compass readings you take with us on a video call, and lay the 3×3 grid over the same plan: the nine-square division with the Brahmasthan at the centre. Every finding comes from these two methods, such as which zone holds each door, room, kitchen, toilet and water point, and how the nine squares and the centre are used.

Geopathic stress readings with the Lecher Antenna and the Universal Aura Scanner are not part of an online assessment, because they need us physically on site. If your online report suggests a closer look is worthwhile, an on-site visit can follow.

    Frequently asked questions.

Is an online consultation as thorough as an on-site visit?

The same directional 16-zone analysis applies to both. The difference is the direct Lecher Antenna geopathic-stress reading, which requires physical presence and is only available on-site.

Can a pre-purchase property be assessed if I can't visit it?

Yes. Pre-purchase assessments are almost always done online from a floor plan, since you typically don't have full access to the property before purchase regardless of location.

Do I need to be in Bangalore for an on-site consultation?

On-site visits currently cover Bangalore. Properties elsewhere in India or internationally use the online consultation format.
