We also locate the sump, overhead tank, septic tank and staircase, which carry weight in the traditional reading. Room use is often where the biggest gains are: giving the south-west room to the head of the family, using the north-east for prayer or study, and keeping the centre of the house open.

Shops and wholesale businesses

For a shop or trading business, Vastu looks at how customers and goods move. We read the entrance, the counter, the owner’s seat, the cash drawer and where stock is kept. Traditional guidance seats the owner in the south-west part of the premises, facing north or east, with the cash drawer opening towards the north.

Godowns, warehouses and small units

Warehouses and small manufacturing units in the wider area are read with the same 16 zones, applied to the whole site. Raw materials and heavy machinery sit well in the south and west. Finished goods waiting to leave suit the north-west. The office and accounts are best in the north or east, with the owner’s cabin in the south-west.

Traditional guidance and what we measure

Traditional guidance: classical texts, including the Aparajitaprccha that Raghavendra Hebbur studies, describe the preferred places for entrances, fire, water, storage and the seat of the owner. These are our reference points.

What we measure: the true orientation of each property, corrected for magnetic declination; the exact degree of every entrance; the zone of each room, counter or machine; and bands of geopathic stress picked up with a Lecher Antenna during a visit. The report shows clearly where each property matches the tradition and where it does not.

How a visit works

Some homes here sit near the railway line or face a heavy road. Classical guidance does not mention trains or lorries, but its principles about rest translate directly. The bedroom should sit in the most settled part of the home, ideally the south-west, and away from the noisiest wall where the plan allows.

Solid furniture, thick curtains and a headboard against an inner wall all help a room feel quieter. When we take a Lecher Antenna reading we also check whether a bed lies across a band of geopathic stress and, if it does, we simply move it. Nothing needs to be bought for that.

The owner’s cabin and the accounts desk

In any business, two seats deserve particular care: the owner’s and the person who handles money. The owner’s cabin works best in the south-west part of the office or shop, with a solid wall behind and the owner facing north or east. Visitors should not sit with their backs to the door.
